I hate sleeves. I've spent all day trying to get this weird poof out, but it dosen't want to work.

In other news, [livejournal.com profile] madamekat  and I went to jomar on Saturday to look for some more of that purple velvet. Unfortunatly they were all out.  Yesterday I went to the Jomar in Norristown, and they didn't have it either.  So today I went to Joanns where I did find some cording that could work for the front of my dress.  I'll go play with that some other time.  While I was there, I saw that Blue Moon beads has a new line out called Madame Delphine, which has some pretty victorian stuff like cameos and lockets and charms.  I wish I made jewlery, or had time to learn.  Anyway... back to the sleeves!

Have you tried putting the sleeve on you or on a dress form with the bottom half only sewn on, then you can tuck in the top to ease out the amount you need to get rid of. Doesn't always work but sometimes helps evil sleeves behave :-) Although it is much more effective with a friend to help

Yup, I've totally done that when the sleeve is on my last nerve!

It's my favorite way of beating a sleeve into submission..although I'll have to train rob to help sometime soon as Amy isn't always around and it's darn near impossible to do on oneself (I've tried)

I think I'll try that, I always start at the front for some reason. Its hard doing it on your self, especially on my right arm, I guess its because I'm right handed. The dress form doesn't work as well, I need arms to fill out the sleeves right.

Hopefully you've wrangled the sleeve into submission by now. Can't wait to see your new cording pinned or sewn in place!

I worked on the TV 208 today. MAN the sashes and apron were rough to place on the skirt! I had no idea it was so fiddly and annoying. Luckily, I spoke with two other women who made it and they had the same problems I did.

Well I'm sure you made it look lovely. Its always comforting to know that your not the only one that struggles with something. I did manage to get one in with no trouble, but the other was being annoying. So I put hook and eyes on the front instead. I'll work on it tomorrow when I'm less grumpy.

Sleeves invoke the seven deadly costumer's sin of WRATH, that's how bad they suck. Here's hoping you wrangle them into submission.
