I spent all weekend gathering and gathering and then gathering.  I think I used over a mile of fabirc ( give or take) to make a petticoat for Gettysburg.  I'm using a cheap bridal hoop, so I needed something very full to make it look correct.  I didnt want any shelf hem or wires showing.

It looks great! I sometimes use a small bustle pad at the back to make it swing backwards more - especially good for dancing.

The petticoat really gives a great shape - awesome! I love laying absurdly long ruffly things out like that...somehow it makes me even prouder that I've wrestled such a ruffly beast into submission! :D
