Despite a sad lack of posts, I have been sewing.  I wanted a cotton lawn gown with sequence like this one from the Napoleon fashion exhibit for the tiara party and the Jane Austen Ball.

But I first I needed new stays, some that are lower in the back.  I used the reconstructing history pattern that is based off of the pair in the Kyoto costume institute.  They wrap around the back and tie in the front.

And the back is low like a modern bra, sorry there's no pic. ( LJ fail, I know)

My next step has been to start sequencing the fabric. I tried glue, but it didn't hold, so each one is hand sewn.

The bodice is done, just needs to be assembled, so next is the skirt.
I can't decide if I want to do it like the original, with a feathered band across the bottom,

or like this fashion plate with big flowers.

Also, I realsied that I never posted pics of the sari dress from Jan, so here you go, better late then never :)

I salute you for hand sewing all those sequins! You'll look lovely (as always... seriously, is there a era you don't look good in?)
