I have no energy. By the end of the day I can’t even stay up to watch tv for half an hour. 6 weeks to go. At least I seem to be healthier this time around. I’m also trying to do some things for myself. Last weekend I got a pedicure and today I’m getting a hair cut. It’s been 6 months, starting to look a bit ratty.
The end is in sight for the bedroom renovations. I went with dark blue for the bedroom with an off white carpet and linens. I’d like to get some red accents too. I’m looking for a classic Persian style rug, and dome vintage prints for the walls. I can’t wait to see it all together.
Finding the motivation to sew isn’t easy. I might need to wait till after the baby comes to start the skeleton suit. I’m also like nag ahead for the year. There’s Belvedere in the fall and possibly new castle in the winter? And some events I can rewear old dresses to, hopefully. That’s it for now. Someday I’ll have interesting things to write.

comments

Last year I bought a pair of bridesmaid shoes to remake as 18th century shoes( I know many of you got the same ones) I had the store dye them red for me before delivery, and it came out very bright. Too bright. Do you think I could tone it down by tea staining them? Or over dyeing with wine?

comments

I'm going to try to post more. I finished the black regency dress. I've worn it twice now, so when I get time to go in my computer, I'll post about it.. I'm prepping for Black Friday and it's making me think about my costuming plans for the next few months. Since I'm pregnant, I can't see anything that requires fitting, so I can catch up on smaller things. I want to add trim to my1860s dress. I should do that while I'm motivated or else the next time i feel like doing it will be the day before Gettysburg. I also have two pairs of shoes I'd like to decorate. I've also been wanting a banyan or wrapper of some sort. That would be nice to have for sleepover events and maternity leave. Something to make me feel more like a lady of leisure and less like a grumpy cow. I have a striped silk that could work, but I'm not sure silk is the best for such a messy time. Maybe a nice cotton will be on sale somewhere. So that should occupy me for a bit. I'll try to post as I go.

comments

I finished the large motifs for the black dress. It only took forever. Next, I'm going to scatter smaller flowers and spangles over the skirt then finish it with a border at the hem. I really hope I finish this before I lose interest. I'm starting to think about the fall and winter events. I'd like to make an 18th century drawstring dress and possibly update my 1860s wardrobe.

comments

No much to report. I'm constantly working on the black dress, though there isn't much to show for it since it all looks the same. Soon I'll be able to move on to the next part. I briefly toyed with the idea of going to costume college next year, but that's not going to happen now. So I'm stuck figuring out what my next event is. Are we going to New Castle again?

comments

I have so much to post about, but so little time to do so. It hasn't helped that I got caught up in a good book and haven come up for air in the last week. I'm also busy packing up my sewing room. We're getting ready to convert that room into a bathroom. For the next couple years, I'll only have a corner to sew in, till we put the addition on anyway. Since I can't sew now, I bought a dress for the WW2 event in a few weeks. I'm not a reenactor, so it should be good enough. Tonight I'll try to post about the big ass hat party and the Williamsburg weekend.

comments
