It's been forever since I posted, I have not been feeling well the last few weeks and have not been up to posting.  But I did manage to make a new Victorian natural form gown.  I first wore it to Belvidere, then trimmed it a bit more and wore it to Robins birthday party, where I had an amazing time!photo (21)It's mostly inspired by this one from the Met, with some alterations
I aged it a few years and made it natural form rather then early bustle. The trim was changed a bit too.  I have a ton of things to make in the next few months, I need an entire 1860s wardrobe by November, and some regency things as well.  I would also like new bustle ballgown for January and maybe a new robe a la Francaise too.  But I'm finally feeling like sewing, so it might get done

Look! I can't believe I did it. I'm so proud of myself, for the longest time, corsets were teh one thing I never thought I could do.  But I did it, I even flossed the boning channels.

So after giving the sewing room a good cleaning, I'll be on to my new NF gown.

2011 was a pretty good costuming year for me.  I had a blast at Costume Con and Steampunk worlds fair, even if the con itself left something to be desired.  I got to see more of my friends and even made some new ones.  I made a decent number of things worth mentioning.  I didn't really have a wish list for 2011, but there are some things I do want for 2012.
- fur trimmed robe a la franciase
- regency ball gown
- new Victorian day gown
- cloak
- princess hat
A good chunk of those I need within the first two months of the year, so we'll see if I get it done.

So without further ado... )

So I've been sitting on these for a while, I finally got pictures pictures up.  There is a store near my new house that sells antique clothing, and I couldn't help myself.  I got a two piece 1880's -ish gown and a folding parasol.

I hate sleeves. I've spent all day trying to get this weird poof out, but it dosen't want to work.

In other news, [livejournal.com profile] madamekat  and I went to jomar on Saturday to look for some more of that purple velvet. Unfortunatly they were all out.  Yesterday I went to the Jomar in Norristown, and they didn't have it either.  So today I went to Joanns where I did find some cording that could work for the front of my dress.  I'll go play with that some other time.  While I was there, I saw that Blue Moon beads has a new line out called Madame Delphine, which has some pretty victorian stuff like cameos and lockets and charms.  I wish I made jewlery, or had time to learn.  Anyway... back to the sleeves!

One down...

I've been working on several gowns for the Steampunk worlds fair in may.  Everything is very Victorian, with very little punk, but it should still be fun.

Happy New Year! Hope 2010 is going well for everyone. It feels like ages since I picked up a needle. Part of that has to do with being too busy, and the other part is lack of motivation. Well, between Young Victoria, Cranford on Masterpiece Theater, and Poe talk, I'm really hankering for an 1840's dress. Today at Jomar I managed to find these Both are some sort of cotton blend I found in the $1 section. They're not nearly as shiny as they look in the photo. The one was a deep blue in the store, but looks greenish at home. Guess lighting makes all the difference. I'm thinking of something along the lines of these, but I can't seem to get better shots of the dresses. http://www.costumersguide.com/victoria/bluegold1.jpg http://www.costumersguide.com/victoria/plaid1.jpg

I need something small to get me out of my funk, I was thinking a hat like the one in the picture.

I want thinking Truly Victorian 550. Has anyone used it before. Good? Bad? Any ideas for a better pattern?

It is now in wearable condition.  I might add some things to it later, but for now, I'm done.  I spent all yesterday finishing the ruffle on the bottom. I was unsure if I wanted it, but now that its on, I love it. Its so much fun to walk in :)

Pics below... )

The hat needs more work, so I'll post pictures soon.

I have not had much motivation to sew in the last few weeks, just too busy with looking for a house and now maybe going back to school.  But the polonaiseis mostly done, just need ruffles now.  I decided to change some things from the origional, I'm doing buttons down the front and organza rather then lace.  Last night I laid out the button holes and sewed them.  I thought I did 12, but after sewing them on, I only used 11. Oh well, now I have an extra.

I was debating about the white ruffle at the bottom of the skirt, and finaly I decided to do it, so that will be in the next few days.

Well, I finally started on my Victorian project.  TV201and 410,  came in, and so far the skirt was surprisingly easy to make. Only the petticoat is done, my machine was acting up.  Next week some time I should be able to start the blue skirt.  That should be even easier now that the pattern is fitted to me and there won't be a ruffle.  Here's some pics,
